"An unforgettable Experience"
Our task was to come alongside the local pastors to teach, encourage, help them in the work and assess needs for future teams.
The Lord put together a great team for the task, it was a joy for us to work alongside Nigel, Karen, Barry, Kim, Daniel, Sally, Veronica and Henry. During this 10 day mission to Tzaneen we saw the Lord using not only what had already been prepared but also the awakening and bringing back to life of gifts that had been hidden, were lying dormant or had fallen into dis-use.
Definitely not for the faint hearted, the journey is almost 30 hours either way, including stop-overs. The flights with Emirates were a treat though, excellent food and service and good leg room. The superb Quantum 10 minibus kindly and generously provided by Imperial Motors in Johannesburg was an absolute dream, comfortable and spacious. Our accommodation at Letaba River, Eco Park was in well-appointed chalets. Our final two days we were in a 4 bedroomed guest house and a rondawel. We were delighted with the facilities and made full use of the swimming pools! Coralie of Missionary Ventures South Africa ably assisted us in on-the-ground organisation, also providing a trailer for the luggage.
The first 5 nights we were part of the Evangelism Crusade team led by John Potter (International Missions Director for Missionary Ventures).
The tent was in a place called Matupa. Team members shared testimonies before John powerfully ministered the Gospel. Many young people came forward for salvation. The team was fully employed in ministering to the people, praying for the sick, for miracles, for deliverance. What a great experience it was to see many young men, women and children coming forward to give their lives to Christ.
On Sundays the Team split up into teams of 2/3 and we travelled to the outposts to bring teaching, encouragement and love to the fledgling churches, after which we returned to the Mission Centre to minister at a combined meeting which was packed to capacity. Talk about high energy!
At the end of the trip the team enjoyed a hearty lunch out at Pekoe Tea Plantation, a lovely situation with superb views over the valleys. Six of us went in to Kruger Park for the day and were blessed to see a variety of game including elephant, buffalo, numerous buck, and even a snake made a timely appearance!
Perhaps “Generosity” is the best way of describing this entire mission - from first to last people gave unstintingly of themselves. We would like to thank the team for investing time, money, gifts, talent and hearts into the mission. Having made a sizeable and valuable deposit into precious lives, we travelled back home with empty suitcases but our hearts were filled to overflowing.
