Description
Theuns Engelbrecht is our field coordinator in Sinazongwe, Zambia. He and his wife Karin reach out daily to the local Tonga Tribe with the saving message of Christ. However many of groups of this tribe can't be reached by road as they are located along the shores of Lake Kariba, which is 175 miles long.
To reach them a boat is needed and God as given Theuns the vision to build it.
This will be a key instrument in the outreach efforts Theuns and Karin are making in Zambia. And it is a long-term investment that will not only make a huge impact on the local people but create powerful opportunities to reach those that have never heard the gospel.
The boat will be used by short-term mission teams for outreach purposes, provide food aid to places previously cut-off by vehicle and make it possible for local church leaders to receive Bible training and plant new churches.
Progress
April 07 - The structure of the boat and and the equipment to run it have already been acquired and are ready for assembly in the local harbour. The interior of the boat, the rooms and fittings, are now being planned and finance will need to be raised to purchase the materials.
June 07 - The boat is being dismanteld in Lusaka to be transported to Sinazongwe harbour and reassembled at the end of August. Enough money has been raised for the engines and the search for the right ones at the right price is underway. There is now a need for £1000 to purchase the essential fittings and utensils.
Aug 08 - We are pleased to announce that the boat is now floating in Sinazongwe harbour with just the final work being required; the engines and the final accommadation requirements need fitting. Have a look at the latest picture on the right. Thank you for all your prayers and support. We will have more details soon of the official launch!
