The Kindergarten has opened now and one of the biggest needs is the ongoing sponsorship of the 3 teachers, a normal wage for a teacher is £80 per month. Please consider supporting one of these amazing people.
£2,500 is also required for essential equipment such as 3 computers, baby cots and beds, toys and teaching equipment.

Description
Situated between the two poorest areas of Cairo, garbage city and the earthquake zone, MV is partnering with a local church to reach out to these communities with the love of Christ. It is called Garbage City becasue the residents there, the Zabbaleen, gather nearly 3,500 tons of garbage each day produced by Cairo's burgeoning population. It is the city dump, yet around 60,000 people live there. The children of these areas do not get any opportunity for education. The aim of the project is to convert an 11 room ground floor appartment purchased by the church into a school/kindergarten. playingTheir aim is to provide a full life changing service to each of the children that come through the door. Not only giving them a christian based education but also keeping them and their families healthy as well.

Progress
May 07 - Work on the apartment conversion is almost complete. Classroom furniture is now in place and we now need to raise £4,200 to enable the Kindergarten to open in August 2007. This will cover essential kitchen and other equipment, computers and safety matting for the play area.

Aug 08 - After some difficulty with the neighbours and local government regarding the original location the Kindergarten project had to be moved. However, as is the way with these things, the new location is much better suited; and we are pleased to announce that the kindergarten is now open. Many things are still required to get the project up and running to a standard that we would like (see above Finance Required) but we are confident that we are now well underway.
