Haiti Support

In an effort to help the suffering people of Haiti we have set up an earthquake relief fund. We have three Field Coordinators working in Haiti and one of them, Ed Lockett, sent this e-mail over the weekend of the 16th January to Glen Dubois, the President of Missionary Ventures International

“It’s very overwhelming here, brother. It is hell on earth. It will take years and years to rebuild here. We have many friends whose huts have totally collapsed. Several churches we know have also collapsed. That will be a major way we can help. It’s going to take a while to dig out of all of this before we can start building. Also, we are still getting tremors quite frequently, so we don’t know if it’s over. For the immediate needs, we can help by giving out food and water. Schools will be closed for a while. As you suggested, I would like to see us do some long term stuff. There is so much to do here. Roads are still blocked with debris. There is still no phone signal or electricity. Keep us in your prayers brother, it’s going to be a long hard road.”

Our colleagues in MV’s USA office will be coordinating our response and you can read more about the situation and needs by visiting their Haiti pages.
