“You will be surprised”

lizzie with some art workIt was my first time on a mission and I was looking forward to it; but I was also a little scared. I would say it was a very big step for me. I knew what to expect but nothing can prepare you for stepping out of your comfort zone.

From the beginning of the mission God showed us favour. We travelled to Heathrow by mini bus which someone offered to drive for us. We arrived with plenty of time for our flight . Also we had over the amount of weight allowance in our suitcase but they let us off, which was good because we had lots of aid and kids supplies. Also we were late for our connecting flight so they let us jump the queue.

When we arrived at Longezia, the mission base in Sinazongwe, Zambia, it was night so we didn’t really see the beauty until the morning. It was worth the wait. Not only was it lovely it was so peaceful especially after a busy day.

It was a blessing to get to know Hugo and Salomie and Theuns and Karin, they where a real encouragement and support through out the mission. We spent most of our time with two different groups of children from the Tonga tribe.

I’ve worked with children before a lot because I used to work in Nurseries but there was a lot of kids. However the children where so nice and a blessing; it was so amazing to hear there voices.

When they sing to God true joy really does shine through them in an awesome way. They have nothing yet they love to sing and it is so humble to see that.

All in all the mission was a challenge for me from the beginning to the end but it also was a blessing to see and find God in a new way. He is bigger than you can ever think or imagine and he loves his children so much.

You will be surprised at how much more you are capable of when you put you trust in God for everything.

‘Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.’
Philippians 4:6-7
