Who are we?

We are a UK registered charity (1067612), and part of Missionary Ventures International, with seven offices world-wide. As a Christian mission we operate in every continent but our UK office in Rochdale Manchester, focuses primarily on Africa, Eastern and Western Europe, former Soviet countries, the Middle East and India.

What do we do?

Here in the UK we have friendly and efficient staff who are committed to providing Christians and churches with great opportunities to get involved in what God is doing all over the world. We do this in three main ways: sending short-term mission teams overseas, raising up short and long term missionaries together with administrating and raising funds for programmes and projects.

How do we work?

Our passion is to see indigenous churches and leaders reach their own people with the love and message of Jesus. We want to partner with them to see their God-given visions fulfilled.

We want to see healthy churches which are self-governing. Through a balance of ongoing support and investment in micro-enterprises the aim is always for these churches to become strong and self-sustaining, avoiding the pitfall of dependency. Finally we aim to teach and encourage churches to look beyond their own situations, become mission-minded and carry on the work themselves.

In most countries the work is pioneered by our long-term missionaries who we call Field Coordinators. They form key relationships, develop outreach plans, host short-term teams, oversee new projects and ensure that donated money is used effectively and with integrity. Put simply, they make sure we hit the target.

This really is exciting work. Click here to see how you and your church can get involved.

MV History

Missionary Ventures International was founded in 1983 in Florida, USA by the founder and former-president
Steven G. Beam. It sprang from an initial involvement by Steve’s younger brother Dave and others in Guatemala after a devastating earthquake there in 1976. In conjunction with Church Pastors there, short-term mission teams were mobilised to help relieve some of the suffering and in so doing they earned the right to present the wonderful gospel of Christ to the people of that country. This started to yield much fruit for the Kingdom of God.

The involvement slowly spread into other areas of ministry such as evangelism and church planting, Bible teaching and leadership training, constructing churches and other buildings, establishing medical facilities, feeding programmes and educating and caring for poor and orphaned children.

Today, this vision has grown to include the development of MV Great Britain, MV Canada, MV South Africa, MV Australia, MV New Zealand, MV Nicaragua, and Missionary Ventures International in Orlando, Florida. Over fifty mission bases have been established throughout the world to host mission teams, pioneer new outreach ministries and administrate aid. The British office is in Rochdale near Manchester.

Many, many thousands of people across the world have come to know Jesus personally through the work of Missionary Ventures. By God’s grace the influence of the organisation continues to grow rapidly. Everyone is encouraged to become a part of missions – from working full-time on the field to becoming a prayer partner. The strengths of Christians here and abroad combine to make a mighty force.

MV Strategy

Our core strategy is to work through the indigenous Christian leaders and we are committed to helping them develop their ministry and raise financial support where necessary for them and their families.

Consequently, the Board of Directors decided that MVI would be a “servant organisation”. It was agreed that by working with indigenous Christian leadership we would accomplish long-term missionary endeavours.

It was further decided that MVI would:

1. Be financially accountable
2. Keep administrative expenses to a minimum
3. Strive to be an organization of credibility, trustworthiness and integrity

At the heart of the mission is motivating and facilitating individual Christians to respond to God’s mission call. Often this is through joining a short-term mission team, typically for up to two weeks. Many team members have a life-changing experience as they see the world through a new pair of lenses. God stretches and uses them in ways they never imagined. Most continue to be personally involved in mission in either going, giving or praying.

Statement of Faith

We have an evangelical Christian basis of faith and these beliefs underpin all that we do.

  • We stand on the Bible as the divinely inspired and authoritative Word of God.
  • We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We have an evangelical Christian basis of faith and these beliefs underpin all that we do.
  • We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We proclaim that a Christian is a person who has come into the Salvation and Lordship of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of virgin birth, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died a vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, bodily rose from the dead, ascended to the right hand of the Father, and will personally return in power and glory.
  • We rely on the convicting, guiding, empowering, equipping, indwelling presence and work of the Holy Spirit to bring us into a holy life and a ministry within the church and witness to the world.
  • We teach that Christians will be resurrected along with the lost, yet saved unto the resurrection of life while they that are lost will be ressurrected into eternal judgement.
  • We see the church as the assembly, the community and the fellowship of all Christians united in Christ.
